SRINAGAR A Little over sixteen months after his appointment, Khurshid. A. Ganai, IAS (Retd.) on Thursday resigned as State Chief Information Commissioner and governor N N Vohra has accepted it. He is likely to be appointed as the advisor to the governor.
The Hon’ble Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation of Mr. Khurshid. A. Ganai, IAS (Retd.), as State Chief Information Commissioner with immediate effect, reads an order issued by eth government here.
Khurshid Ahmad Ganai who hails from Mattan in Anantnag District achieved second position in the IAS examination in 1982. He has held various key positions in Jammu and Kashmir during his illustrious tenure. Alumni of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani Rajasthan, he studied Mechanical Engineering1974-1979.
In 2007, the then Governor of the State Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha awarded on Oct 22 conferred on him the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious service and his outstanding contribution to the public welfare and development of the state. He was also appointed as one of the advisor to Governor N N Vohra when state was put under Governor rule after the death of Mufti Mohammad Syed.
