Woman Injured In Poonch Blast

Share

POONCH — A 65-year-old woman shepherd was critically injured today when he accidentally stepped over a landmine near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Tuesday.

Makhan B (65) wife of Mohd Sharief Gujer of Noorkote sustained multiple splinter injuries in the blast at the Gulpur sector near Line of Control and was admitted to nearby hospital where from she was referred to district hospital Poonch for specialized treatment, a police official told GNS.

He said the woman was tending his sheep and goats when she stepped over the landmine causing the explosion.

The landmines are laid along the LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from across the border and sometimes these get carried away due to rains.
