Mirwaiz Visits Fire Affected Families At Nowhatta

SRINAGAR — Expressing grief over the great damage caused to many residential houses in the deadly blaze at Pandaan, Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar, Hurriyat (M) chairman and Patron of Dar-ul- Khair Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged well off people and all those who can come forward and donate gen­erously to Darul-Khair which has taken up the cause of rehabilitation of the affected families.

According to the statement, Mirwaiz, who was set free after remaining under house detention for more than four days, visited Pandan Nowhatta to take the stock of the damage caused to residential houses by the fire.

Mirwaiz expressed complete solidarity with the affected fami­lies and greatly regretted that property worth lac of rupees has got damaged leaving the families homeless.

He assured the affected fami­lies that Darul Khair would do as much as possible to rehabilitate them and as soon as possible. Mir­waiz urged the youth and the el­derly people in the neighborhood to help the fire affected people in every manner.

Meanwhile, a 20 member del­egation from Kishtwar district of Jammu met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and apprised him about the prevailing situation in Doda, Bhaderwah, and Chenab Valley.

The delegation assured full support to the Mirwaiz stating that people of Chenab valley have always been with the pro-freedom leadership of Kashmir and would continue to remain steadfast in their commitment towards Kash­mir’s struggle for right to self de­termination, the statement said.

The statement said that the delegation stated that people of Chenab valley are also being sub­jecting to various forms of atroci­ties and challenges for their affili­ation with the Kashmir’s struggle for freedom.

Mirwaiz told the delegation that Kashmir’s political move­ment for self-determination was not confined to any one region or district, but was about the people of entire people of J&K. “It is a mass movement of and for the peo­ple of entire Jammu and Kashmir and all people are committed to take it to its rightful end,” he said.

Mirwaiz lauded the role and contribution of people of Chenab valley towards freedom move­ment. He said that every segment of society across the State has contributed and offered priceless sacrifices towards the freedom movement and as a result face worst atrocities at the hands of government forces.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat spokes­man strongly condemned the kill­ing of two civilians Muhammad Yousuf Rather and Aqib Rather at the hands of government forces, stating that forces have unleashed ultimate repression across Kash­mir where in youth are killed, maimed and injured with the deadly pellets and bullets.

He said this repression is all set to fail to break the resolve of peo­ple of Kashmir
