J&K To Have Its Startup Policy Soon

PAMPORE — A three-member team from Invest India, Tuesday met Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to J&K Government, Industries and Commerce Department in presence of Dr. M I Parray, Director Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).              

During the meeting, the entrepreneurship scenario in J&K was discussed threadbare so that further necessary steps required are taken to give flip to the establishment of enterprises across the state. Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India.

It was informed during the meeting that in line with the  ‘Startup India Policy’ of the Government of India, a comprehensive Startup Policy for the state of Jammu and Kashmir shall be prepared which will further boost the establishment of business enterprises.  The policy shall aim to foster entrepreneurship and promote innovation by creating an ecosystem that is conducive for the growth of startups. Incubation Centres across the colleges and universities of the State shall be established under this policy.  

It was further decided that an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) facilitation centre shall also be established at JKEDI. A startup yatra covering all the three regions of the State – Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh shall be held on August 27 and would include college students, budding and established entrepreneurs and innovators as well. In addition, boot camps shall be organized across the state of Jammu and Kashmir.  

A first of its kind incubation centre has been approved for J&K under Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and is coming up at JKEDI.
