SRINAGAR Thousands of people from different walks of life on Monday visited the ancestral village of slain journalist and peace activist Syed Shujaat Bukhari at Kreeri to join his 4th day special prayers.
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, politicians, ministers, legislators, journalists and representatives of religious and civil society groups joined the special prayers.
Speakers expressed solidarity with the family including Syed Rafi-ud-Din Bukhari, Syed Basharat Bukhari and other family members.
Hurriyat Conference leader Maulana Masroor Ansari also visited the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion he demanded impartial probe as all sections from both mainstream and resistance camps have denounced the killing.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was also organized by Jammu and Kashmir Adbi Markaz Kamraz under the chairmanship of the noted poet and litterateur Prof Rehman Rahi in connection with Rasm-e-Chaharum of Syed Shujaat Bukhari at Kreeri.
Paying rich tributes to Bukhari, the speakers highlighted his commendable role in journalistic and literary fields.
