SRINAGAR Eid-ul-fitr, marking the culmination of Holy month of Ramazan, is being celebrated with religious fervour and traditional enthusiasm in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Eid is also being celebrated in most parts of India barring Kerala which celebrated it on Friday, Pakistan and Arab countries.
The biggest Eid congregation in the Valley is expected to take place at Eidgah. Beside Eidgah, the biggest congregations are expected at Asar-i-Sharif at Hazratbal, Khanqah-e-Muala, Ziarat Syed Sahib at Sonwar, Janab Sahib Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Kalashpora, Asar-e-Sharif Lal Bazar and other mosques and shrines.
The Imams and clerics will deliver sermons on the occasion highlighting the essence of festival.
Earlier in the day, thousands of people thronged different markets of the Valley for preparations for the holy festival.
Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of this summer capital witnessed rush of shoppers all throughout the day. However, the rush was not as prominent as was on Monday.
