Basant Rath Saves The Day

Share

SRINAGAR — When a commuter was stuck in a traffic jam for about an hour, he texted Kashmir’s IGP Traffic Basant Rath and the officer swung into action.

On Tuesday morning, Srinagar’s Amira Kadal witnessed a massive traffic jam for about an hour and the commuters had no hope of getting it restored.

A commuter said the stuck vehicles weren’t able to move even an inch for the whole period and the scene was annoying.

“I had to reach office and it was humid and hot. I was wondering what to do and suddenly it came to my mind that once IGP traffic had posted on its Twitter that if someone is stuck in traffic or has any emergency he can directly text me. So I thought to give it a try and sent him a message ‘I am stuck at Amira Kadal for nearly an hour and I haven’t moved an inch’. I also sent him a picture. Within no time, he replied with ‘Give me five minutes’,” he said.

“Much to my surprise, within 5 minutes, traffic started to move and I saw many policemen all of a sudden on road manning traffic,” he said. “The IGP proved that he is true to his word.”

It is pertinent to mention that since IGP Basanth Rath took charge, the traffic has improved a lot. (GNS)
