SRINAGAR Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute and SP School Srinagar have made it into the finals of Kashmir Harvard Inter-School Cricket Tournament after beating their respective opponents in the semi-finals played at at TRC Ground Srinagar on Monday.
In the first semis of the day, Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute beat Spring Buds by nine wickets in what turned out to be a lopsided clash. Spring Buds decision to bat first didnt prove to be a wise one as they were bundled out for 63 runs inside 14 overs.
Arsalan with 20 and Ashish with 17 were highest scorers for them while as Farzan took three wickets for Harvard. Saqib took two while as Faiq, Kaleem and Faisal took one each.
In reply, Harvard achieved the required target for the loss of only one wicket in just 10 overs. Yasir with unbeaten 36 was highest scorer while as Sheeraz scored an unbeaten 13. Junaid took one wicket for Spring Buds.
Commissioner Srinagar Municipality, Reyaz Ahmad Wani was chief guest during man of the match ceremony while as PDP Youth Wing Secretary Arif Laigaroo and Director State Cricket Academy Mubashir Hassan were other guests present. Farzan was adjudged as man of the match.
On the occasion SMC Commissioner on the occasion hailed event and assured SCA all kind of support. The event is organized by SCA in collaboration with Amblin and is sponsored by Kashmir Harvard, J&K Bank and Unibic Biscuits.
In the second semis, SP Higher Secondary School defeated Green Valley Educational Institute by 15 runs to setup summit clash date with Kashmir Harvard Education Institute.
Green Valley won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first SP School on the back of the Munazirs undefeated 62 posted 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Munazir was well supported by Mubashir, Muteeb and Hameem who scored 27, 26, and 22 respectively. For Green Valley, Hurair took three wickets while as Ammar took one.
In reply, Green Valley got off to a great start with openers Hurair and Azam putting up an 80-run stand for the first wicket in 10 overs. But once they got out, both taken by Munazir, Green Valley innings collapsed. Though Junaid played lonely fighting inning, trying to take his team home but lack of support from other end didnt help. In allotted 20 overs, Green Valley were able to score 145 runs , falling short by 15 runs. For Green Valley Junaid scored 54 runs while as Azam scored 44 and Hurair scored 29. For SP, Munazir , Shakir and Sharan took 2 wickets each.
Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir Bilal Ahmad Bhat was guest during man of the match ceremony. Among others present were PDP Youth Wing Secretary Arif Laigaroo and Green Valley Academics head Riyaz Kathjoo. Munazir for his all-round performance was adjudged as man of the match.
