Shab-e-Qadr Observed Across J&K

SRINAGAR — Shab-e Qadr was observed across Jammu and Kashmir with religious enthusiasm as lakhs of Muslims across the Valley offered night-long prayers.

The prayers were held in local and central mosques and shrines across the Kashmir Valley with biggest congregations held at Hazratbal Shrine  and historic Jamia Masjid here.

The congregational night long prayers were also held at all mosques and shrines in Srinagar including Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith Gawkadal; Asar-e-Sharif Janab Sahib Soura; Asar-e-Sharif ShehriKalashpora; Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib (RA), Khanqah-e-Maula and other Masajid and Shrines.

In their sermons, Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and urged Muslims to follow the same.

Governor N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti felicitated the people on Shab-e-Qadr.

In a message of greetings, the Governor hoped that this auspicious occasion would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood and be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

The Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.

In her message, the Chief Minister appealed to people to pray wholeheartedly during this night for peace, prosperity and brotherhood in the State. She said the blessed night, during which the Holy Quran was revealed, is an occasion for us to introspect our lives, seek Allah’s forgiveness, generosity and guidance.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had directed the authorities of Wakf Board and Wakf Council, divisional administrations of Kashmir and Jammu to provide all facilities of drinking water, electricity, sanitation, traffic arrangements etc to the devotees at the shrines and mosques across the State during the night long prayers.
