SrinagarGovernment forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search operation in parts of Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
Official sources told GNS that a joint team of army’s 46 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the Drangbal village which is few kilometers away from the Old Town Baramulla.
Soon after the joint team of forces laid the siege of the village, some gunshots from suspected militants were heard.
A police officer confirmed the gunshots said that the cordon was laid following inputs about the movement of two militants in the area.
Government forces have launched the cordon at Pehtgam area of Wagoora and Checksari villages in Kreeri.
Meanwhile at Mal Mohalla area of Sedow in Shopian of south Kashmir, army’s 23 Para launched a search operation following the inputs about the presence of some militants.
