Srinagar The Kashmir World Film Festival, (KWFF) presented by Zee TV & Zee Cinema, will bring creators, diverse audiences, and the industry together in Srinagar during the bi-annual storytelling festival running June 19-25, 2018.
In a statement, Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan Festival Director KWFF said that this collaboration with Zee TV & Zee cinema continues KWFFs ongoing mission to empower Positive , Creative, Motivational , Humanity based storytellers with the opportunities and tools to bring their stories to life.
The 2018 Festival is set to build on the momentum from last years edition, which not only saw record setting attendance numbers in just 2 editions, but also the sizeable no. of entries of Innovative and thought provoking, entertaining films.
In our previous two editions of film festivals we have screened films from countries like USA, Italy, Spain, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. We also had participating films from different parts of India in different languages like Kashmiri, Bengali, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Urdu, Hindi and English.
The inaugural Kashmir World film Festival editions premiered to huge crowds with the first-ever, such initiative in the Kashmir Valley, “Following a banner year that saw record submissions in its very first two test initiatives across all of our festival programs. Its clear, that there is more exciting work being created in more different ways and on more different platforms than ever before, by the participants said Khan, for the 3rd and the following editions of the festival. He also said Our mission is to provide filmmakers with unparalleled opportunities to share their projects with a global audience.

The 2017 line-up made major cultural headlines from the Media Industry (Both Local & National), local audience, creative filmmakers, social media, International Bloggers and most importantly the think tanks of Kashmir and Bollywood, to the likes of representatives of various fractions of the society. Festivals so far has been graced with the presence of Celebrities / Guests form Mumbai, Delhi and other parts of the country which included veteran Film makers / Writers / Actors, like Saeed Mirza, Govind Nihalani, Arunaraje Patil, Anjum Rajabali, Rajit Kapur, Anwar Jamal, Imam Siddique and other guests from Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu.
We have had support from the prestigious organisations like Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), Films Division (FD), Childrens Film Society of India (CFSI), and Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF).
The Kashmir World Film Festival is a cultural event for the new age of storytelling that brings together visionaries across industries and diverse audiences. It celebrates the power of storytelling in a variety of forms from film to TV, VR to online work, and live workshops. As a platform for creative expression, independent filmmaking, and immersive entertainment, KWFF champions emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning filmmakers and creators, curates innovative experiences, and introduces new technology and ideas through premieres, exhibitions, talks, and live performances.
The Festival was founded by Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of Kashmir following the closure of cinema, in Kashmir as the aftermath of some unexpected events. With strong roots in Theatre & independent film, the annual event has evolved into a destination for creativity, reimagines the cinematic experience, and explores how art can unite communities.
On the sidelines of the festivals we conduct workshops for the students who wish to learn about film making. In the first edition the No. of students. for the workshop was 75, in the second edition it was 126 and this time we would like to increase the no of students to 200 and to get students from more districts of the valley.
We intend to make this festival a regular feature in Kashmir in the ages to come and will be organising two festivals in a year (one in spring and another in autumn). For our forthcoming edition we are expecting some of the very popular Stars from Bollywood.

The main aim of the festival is to provide the people of Kashmir including youth an opportunity to watch world class movies.
- We also aim at providing platform to the film makers of Kashmir for both established as well as freshers.
- So far, we have got an amazing support worldwide, and have been covered by media, social media, and digital portals in a very positive way, and have gained tractions amongst varied target groups and intellectuals.

A grand Pre – launch Event of KWFF was held in Srinagar previous evening, in a Hotel lawns in Srinagar, which was attended by the important people from Business community, Adminitration and Print / Electronic media.
