Srinagar—Ali Sports Hajin, Ferrari Lions Ganderbal, Iqra FC Dachigam emerged victorious in their respective fixtures of the second phase of Mufti Mohammad Syed Memorial Gold Cup 2017 played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground Srinagar, a statement from Jammu and Kashmir Football Association said on Thursday.
According to the statement, Ali Sports Hajin, Bandipora defeated IFC Nowgam in the first game of the day by two goals to one in what was a closely fought match. Both sides missed several scoring opportunities but it was Ali Sports Hajin that made lesser mistakes compared to IFC Nowgam and consequently emerged as the eventual winners.
Throughout the first half, the defence lines of both the teams had to keep the forward lines at bay. The Hajin team played aggressive football throughout the match and were rewarded for that. Danish of Hajin team played exceptionally well and the defenders of IFC Nowgam were helpless before him. He scored the first goal for Hajin team in the first half and doubled the lead in second half. For IFC Nowgam, Wasim Raja scored the lone goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, the scoreline read 2-1 in favour of Hajin team.

As the match was played in the morning session, the chilly winds blowing across the ground, didn’t stop the two teams from playing attacking football which delighted the spectators, who braving the extreme cold had thronged the venue in huge numbers.
In the second match of the day, Ferrari Lions Ganderbal thrashed United FC Lolab Kupwara by four goals to nil. The quality and the speed of the football displayed by Ganderbal boys enthralled large number of fans. Javeed Ahmad scored two goals for the winning team while Firdous Ahmad and Hilal Ahmad scored one goal each.
In the third match of the day, Iqra FC Dachigam, Bandipora defeated JFC Junior Pattan, Baramulla by 4-1. For the winning team, Sameer scored two goals while Mohsin and Shakir scored one goal each. Umar scored the lone goal for Pattan team.
The second phase of the event is for winner clubs of 16 district/zones of Kashmir province and will be played on knockout basis. In all 15 matches will be played in the second phase. The winner and runner up teams of this phase shall qualify for third phase of the event with six premier clubs and two Jammu province teams. The matches of the third phase will be played in Jammu.
The event which started in August has proved a hit. more than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials participated in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State. The event is being held across the 22 districts of the state and is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
