Water scarcity in Anantnag village

Anantnag—The residents of Brinty Dialgam village Thursday alleged that they face a lot of problems due to acute shortage of water supply for past three years.

Miffed over the callous attitude of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, the villagers of Brinty Dialgam threatened to hit the streets if the problem is not solved.

“We are being deprived of water facility and despite repeated requests, neither the concerned department nor the administration is bothered to sort our hardships,” said a resident Abdul Rehman.

He said that the authorities laid water pipes in the village before three year back to Brinty village but they have not completed their work till now. “ We fail to understand why the authorities don’t complete their work,” he added.

The residents are forced to cover a distance of almost a kilometer to fetch drinking water from tube wells,.

“Sometimes we use water from the ponds which put our health at great risk. The most affected areas are Vanpora, Badhdraman, Checki Brinty, Badhangan and other areas,” said another resident Abdul Gani

The village is just two km’s away from famous water spring Achabal, which supplies water to about 60 villages.

When contacted, Junior Engineer PHE of the area Fayaz Ahmad said that the work on Water pipes in the area is going on and hopefully it will be completed soon.
