Govt committed to recapitalize 3 Central Cooperative Banks: Dorjay

Jammu—Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay said that Government is committed for recapitalization of Anantnag, Baramulla and Jammu Central Cooperative Banks as they are presently unlicensed due to which their performance has slowed down. He said the matter with regard to recapitalization have already been taken up with the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who in response had shown positive response in this pursuit.

This was stated by the Minister at a felicitation function after the successful completion of Cooperative Week-2017 organized by the J&K Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Union Limited (JKDCUL), here today.

Minister of State for Forests, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad was also present on the occasion.

While appreciating the role of Cooperative department for successfully conducting elections for Primary Cooperative Societies in the state, the Minister said the employees of the department have to perform their duties with a positive approach and to play a significant role in the growth of our economy. He calls for strengthening of the Cooperative movement across the State and revitalization of existing Cooperative Institutions.

Dorjay said there is potential in the field of Cooperative for creating employment avenues for educated unemployment youth of the State. He also called for massive awareness among the general masses at gross root level so that cooperative movement would be enhanced and flourished across the State.

The Minister congratulated the organizers for such events and said that there is dire need to launch awareness programmes of Cooperative Movement in the State so that maximum people can be benefited by the welfare schemes of the Centre and State Governments.

Minister of State for Cooperative, Mir Zahoor stressed for setting up of Cooperative Medical Shops at every Tehsil headquarters to ensure availability of quality medicines to the people on concessional rates.

The Minister said that it is the mission of the present government to reach out the people with the schemes and opportunities of economic growth.

On the occasion, the Cooperative department distributed Newsletter-2017 “Our Cooperatives, our Strength” among the participants present in the function.

Secretary Cooperative Bashir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements registered by the Cooperative Department during the current year.

Chairman, Citizen Cooperative Bank, Managing Director JKFED, Chairman, J&K Cooperative Movement, Representatives from various Cooperative Unions including, IFCO, Housing Cooperative, JKDCUL and other senior officers of the department attended the function.
