Jammu Muslim Front pitches for communal harmony

Jammu—Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) Saturday held a meeting to discuss prevailing situation in Jammu region and expressed concern over the growing communal divide and brandishing of fire arms and swords by radical elements in the city recently.

An emergency meeting of members discussed at length various issues and role of communal force to create a wedge in the sensitive region, a JMF spokesman told Kashmir Observer.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman Shuja Zaffar and addressed by its President Qazi Imran, Habib Sheikh, Rashid Ahmed, Sadiq Bhat Coordinator, Bashir Qureshi, Press Secretary.

Speakers strongly condemned the Chowadi incident which was aimed at flaring up the communal divide and target way side vendors and light the fire of unrest.

They cautioned the Muslim community not to fall prey to anti social elements who take undue advantage of such situations to fan communal divide.

“Jammu Muslims are a peace loving people and have no love for communal elements”, JMF president said and expressed concern at certain law enforcing officers who he said were indulging in hooliganism and are threatening peace loving citizens.

He urged govt to identify such elements and take early action against them

JMF expressed gratitude to Raj Kumar Gupta President of Gua Shalla Jammu, Devanand Balmiki Samaj, S. Peter Chowhan Christian social worker, Sardar Mohinder Singh social worker, for participating in Muharram processions as a mark of solidarity with the Muslim community.

JMF leaders said people of the state and administration should learn lesson from the supreme sacrifice of 72 martyrs of Karbala.
