Share

Pulwama—Government forces on Saturday launched a cordon-and-search operation in a Pulwama village.

A joint team of police, army and CRPF laid a cordon-and-search at Bellow village following inputs about the presence of some militants there.

Soon after the cordon, villagers came out of their houses and started hurling rocks at forces personnel triggering off clashes in the area, they said.

Police and paramilitary CRPF fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting villagers.

Meanwhile, a house belonging to one Ghulam Ahmad Dar caught fire during the clashes.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary while confirming the incident told Kashmir Observer that they have launched the cordon in the area following inputs about the presence of some militants.

“A house also caught fire which is situated outside the cordon area”, SSP said.

He said investigations has been launched to ascertain the cause of fire incident.
