FCS&CA Failed to Distribute Adl Ration During Muharram

Srinagar—The residents of Zadibal, Rainawari, Hassanabbad Shalimar and Barjee areas of Srinagar on Saturday alleged that the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&C) Dept failed to distribute the 20000 quintals of food grains among consumers during the month of Muharram.

While reviving the Muharram arrangements earlier, concerned minister Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali had directed for distribution of additional 20000 quintals of food grains among consumers, especially in Shia inhabited areas.

However, the residents said that despite tall claims of the government no additional ration was provided to them.

The residents of the Zadibal area said they have given shelter to other Muslims belonging to different districts of the valley during first 10 days of Muharram due to which the need of food supply had increases in the area.

“This certainly requires an additional food supply to the people, but unfortunately it was only on papers,” said a resident.

“Government only makes fake promises, the ground reality is that they only know how to create a good image in front of people by using ‘fake promises’ as a tool. we didn’t see any such type of distribution being available at various ration depot’s, making it difficult for the people to fulfill their desired need especially in this holy month of Muharram” said, Tanveer Hussain, a resident of Zadibal.

“We have only got 1 kg of rice and 100 grams of sugar per family that didn’t fulfill our needs. The government has not fulfilled its promise of issuing the additional ration supply due to which we are facing a lot of problems during the month of Muharram” said, another local resident Syed Zaffar of Barjee, Harwan Srinagar.
