Consultants appointed for Leh, Kargil under NCDC

Srinagar—Stressing the need for giving momentum to Cooperative movement in the State, Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, Thursday underlined the need of providing boost to the Cooperative movement in the State to address the unemployment issues.

 He also asked the concerned for initiating the process to conduct the elections for different Cooperative societies from primary to secondary levels as the earliest.

Chairing a high level meeting of officers of Department convened here today to review the functioning of Cooperative Department, which was attended by Minister of State for Cooperative Mir Zahoor Ahmad and other Senior Officers of Cooperative Department, the Minister asked the concerned for issuing notification on holding of elections of various Societies established in the State.

 Taking stock of Cooperative assets available at different places, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure that there should be no encroachments on land available at different places in State. He also asked them to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of Cooperative Office at Tulsibagh and submit the same to the concerned quarter for arrangement of funds.

Addressing the meeting, Mir Zahoor called for giving wide publicity through print and electronic media to goods and other items being sold in all Cooperative and Super Bazaars of the State.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on working of Super Bazaars. It was informed that good revenue is being generated by the Super Bazaar Jammu and Super Bazaar Srinagar. It was also given out that the Cooperative Bazaar at Tulsibagh is functioning smoothly and the Department has a proposal for establishing Cooperative Bazaar at Civil Secretariat also. Out of 945 registered societies, as many as 598 societies are functional in Kashmir Division, the meeting was informed.

The meeting was informed that 97percent audit was completed.

During the meeting, the issue with regard to conduct of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) was also discussed in detail and the Minister directed the Secretary Cooperative to convene DPCs meetings and clear promotions of the employees of different cadres.

The Minister also appointed the consultants for the Leh and Kargil districts to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPRs) under National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) scheme of Cooperative Department for launching Integrated Cooperative Development Department (ICDP) project in these two districts.
