Police arrests 5 of a family in Hajin

Bandipora: Police have arrested five members of a family from Hajin town in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Locals from Parray Mohalla Hajin told CNS that two days back when Forester Muhammad Akbar Parray’s family was celebrating the engagement ceremony of one of their female members, a police party from Hajin police station raided the house and arrested five members of the family including a father and his two sons.

The arrested persons who are in police lock-up from past two days have been identified as Muhammad Akbar Parray, his two sons Muhammad Saleem and Parvez Ahmed and his two nephews Rameez Ahmed and Umar Mushtaq.

The relatives of Muhammad Akbar said that police have not been giving any specific reason for the raid and subsequent arrests. “We fail to understand on what charges they have been arrested. Even we are not allowed to meet them,” they said.

SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulifqar feigned ignorance and said he will check it while SHO Police Station Hajin declined to comment on the issue. (CNS)
