Srinagar: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) has expressed its serious concerns over the GST council meet to be held in Srinagar from May 19.
In a statement, KEA Co Chairman Farooq Dar said holding GST council meet in Srinagar is a well-hatched plan of the government of India to implement the tax regime in the State.
This GST council meet in Srinagar is an attempt to erode financial autonomy of the J&K State, Dar said in a press statement.
Dar said business community and the people would fight tooth and nail to oppose GST implementation in the State.
We are not against any tax regime which is for the betterment of the business community. But J&K state is not like any other state in India. It has as special status guaranteed under article 370 under which this law cant be implemented here, said Dar.
He said GST has to be passed through State assembly and also endorsed by the people before it is implemented here.
State and the GoI needs to take people and business community on board before GST is implemented here, said Dar.
Dar also castigated BJPs attempt to hold any RSS meet in Srinagar.
As per the media reports, RSS is also organizing its meet in Srinagar. This is all done under a well thought out plan to keep Kashmir burning and affect business community here, said KEA Co Chairman.
He said any such meet by RSS in Srinagar would have serious repercussions.
GoI doesnt want Kashmir economy to improve. Such meets by Hindu extremist groups would only incite violence here and affected business community, said Dar.
Dar said people would not let BJP turn the J&K state like UP where Muslims have been pushed to wall.
