Rajouri: Nearly 70 field officials and functionaries of various departments were today caught unaware on wrong footing when a senior official called upon their mobile numbers this afternoon posing as a local citizen.
Some officials did not respond to many calls made by the officer while majority of officials expressed their unavailability in field citing some other engagements.
Source informed KNS that DC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal in view of public complaints of non-cooperative attitude of field officials had asked the senior officers in a meeting to ensure that officials respond positively to public issues. However more than 70 field officials were caught napping in deep slumber when DC himself called them today posing as an applicant. Officials informed that they could not recognise the official cell phone number of District Collector.
Most of the officials contacted by DC were Patwari, Revenue Gidawars and many field officials of essential services departments. Immediately when the news broke panic spread in entire revenue department, defaulting officials revealed that they called back same number but no response as damage was done by that time. Atleast a dozen officials found out of station now face suspension and other penalties.
When contacted, DC Rajouri confirmed to KNS Yes, calls were made to some 70-80 officials as a part of internal vigilance mechanism to check service delivery adding that many officials were found absent while a large majority did not respond properly. On being asked about action he said we have shared details with SDMs and directed them to initiate actions, defaulters will be taken to task to ensure effective presence of field functionalities for better service.
