SRINAGAR: Narspora XI, Kashmir Knights and FCC Thursday made winning starts to Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi Memorial Cricket Tournament campaign, beating their opponents in their respective fixtures played at Budgam Sports Stadium.
Narspora XI locked horns with Club of Unity Patwoo, with the former opting to bat first. Narspora XI mad a competitive total with scoreboard reading 148 all out in the 18th over. Club of Unity didnt show any urgency to overhaul the score, managing only 122 for the loss of seven wickets in 18 overs. They fell short by 22 runs. Syed Suhail of winning side was declared man of the match thanks to his crucial 30 while setting up a total.
The second game proved to be one-sided affair with Kashmir Knights posting a mountain of runs to bat their opponents Nasralahpora out of the game. Kashmir Knights powered by Showkat Bhats 23-ball whirlwind 62 posted a massive score of 221 for the loss of five wickets in the 18 overs. He then returned to make an impact with the ball in hand, snaring two wickets as Nasralahpora were shot out for a platry 122 to lose the game by a huge margin of 99 runs.
Showkat was declared man of the match for his winning contribution to Kashmir Knights.
The third and the last game of the day saw FCC beat KFC Shogpora comfortably by 41 runs. Batting first FCC posted a huge total of 192 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The star of the FCCs batting heroics was Sajad who slammed a 45-ball 72 to take his side to a huge total. KFC Shogpora never looked in the hunt during their chase with FCC restricting them to 151 for the loss of six wickets. Sajad was unsurprisingly given man of the match award for his match winning knock.
The tournament-quite a hit in central Kashmirs Budgam district- is being organised by Al-Mehdi Foundation Budgam in memory of Aga Syed Mehdi.
