Locals Term Mantri’s Remarks ‘Misleading’

Share

Srinagar: The locals of Pulwama town on Thursday termed a statement of Education Minister Altaf Bukhari ‘misleading’ wherein he had said that the government after completing enquiry into Pulwama Degree College episode transferred two senior police officers apart from SSP.

On Wednesday, the Education Minister while questioning students’ motive of protests said that the government has already transferred SSP, DySP and SHO Pulwama over trespassing into college last month. “I wonder for what they are protesting now,” he had said.

Contesting the minister, the Pulwama locals said that only SSP has been transferred so far and remaining officers are still posted. “The SSP was transferred along with other police officers. However the DySP and SHO are still posted here and are responsible for deteriorating situation,” they said. The locals including shopkeepers demanded immediate transfer of DySP and SHO Pulwama.
