Share

Srinagar: To contain ongoing student protests across Kashmir Valley, police have started calling parents to different police stations where they are being advised to persuade their wards to desist from protesting in or outside the school premises.

News agency CNS quoting sources reported, that the student agitation across Valley has been giving sleepless nights to the government. To put a break on these protests, not only counseling sessions are being conducted for the detained students, but the parents are also being called to police stations for this purpose.

Sources added that authorities have directed government forces to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with the student protests. Sources said that government is keen to save the current tourist season and has directed police to take utmost care while dealing with students.

Government is also mulling to take civil society members and other social organizations on board to restore order in different educational institutions. Sources said that few groups of parents have approached Minister for Education Syed Altaf Bukhari for the restoration of normalcy in educational institutions. The parents while seeking the release of all the students urged upon the Minister to remove all the deployed forces around the colleges and schools.

An official on condition of anonymity said that they are mulling to seek the admission records of restive educational institutions from the school authorities. “This will help us to identify the trouble mongers,” he said.
