Hit & Run Case: Protesters Demand Arrest of Guilty

Srinagar: Locals from Bhag Jogi Lankar Rainawari on Tuesday staged protest outside police post Nehru Park seeking the arrest of driver responsible for the death of a teenager.

Shabir Ahmed Paktoo (21) died in a road accident on April 27 when he was run over by a speedy unknown vehicle near Ghat Number 2 of Dalgate area of Srinagar city.

The protesters who blocked the road demanded the arrest of the accused driver. They said police have obtained the CCTV footage of the accident, but the registration number of the vehicle is not visible. “We want police should investigate the matter on priority basis and arrest the guilty,” said the protesters.

SP East, Sheikh Faisal Qayoom told CNS that it is a hit and run case and police have been using all resources to nab the guilty. “We are working on the case and hopefully it will be solved,” he said and appealed the victim family to have faith on police. (CNS)
