CUK holds induction programme for newly admitted students

Srinagar: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Monday organised an induction programme for the fresh batches of students of various integrated programmes of the University at Nowgam-I academic campus here.

Addressing the students, Registrar, Prof. Mohammad Afzal Zargar welcomed them and congratulated the Director admissions and his team for conducting the entrance examination for admission to integrated programmes, in Physics, Zoology, Biotechnology, Mathematics and Law, smoothly and efficiently. He said, “This was a dynamic decision of the Vice-Chancellor that we should conduct these examinations on our own and the team made it possible.”

He said, “You (students) are the ambassadors of our University and I hope that you will involve yourself in your respective courses to the best of your abilities and make this University proud.”

Emphasizing on the innovative teaching-learning techniques adopted by the faculty of the University, Prof. Zargar promised the students best learning environment and training. “We may not have the best of infrastructure as of now, but we promise you the best on the academics front.”

Director Admissions, Prof. Abdul Gani, gave a detailed presentation in which he highlighted the chief features of the varsity. He deliberated on the operations of the University and informed the students about teaching, evaluation and student support services available at different campuses of the varsity. He praised the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar for taking bold academic initiatives.

While acknowledging the support of his team for conducting entrance examination indigenously, he said that it would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication.

While responding to the queries of the students, Prof. Gani encouraged them to make the best use of the time and university resources and build not only their careers, but their personalities as well. He said, “Students should be the agents of change in the society.”

Dean School of Legal Studies, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain and Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof. Nair Azeem also spoke on the occasion. Faculty members of different department were also present.

After the meet, students went to their respective departments and started their academic journey in the university.

CUK holds CUKAT for language programme

 The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Sunday conducted the second phase of Central University Kashmir Admission Test (CUKAT) for language programmes at Nowgam-I academic block here.

More than 90 percent of the candidates appeared in the entrance test held for admission to the post-graduate programmes in English and Urdu.

The CUK faculty, senior functionaries, officers, their allied staff were actively involved in the examination process which was hassle free, smooth and fair.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, Director Admissions, Prof. Abdul Gani, took stock of the examination process and were fully satisfied with the conduct of the examination. They hailed the staff for successfully conducting the entrance test.
