SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) all set to join hands with Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKSSC) in its bid to take the sport to grassroot level. The first step in this direction will be JKSSC intending to take on board the JKFA- custodians of the sport in the state-for the successful innings of the formers upcoming football academy.
JKSSC will be soon launching its football academy-State Football Academy-that will see budding footballers getting to learn tricks of the trade from the star footballer Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo.
According to president JKFA Zameer Ahmad Thakur, his association will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the JKSSC that will see both working together to take the game to the grassroot levels.
We will be signing MoU with the JKSSC that will see both JKFA and Sports Council working together in State Football Academy. It is only going to benefit upcoming footballers. Sports Council will be providing us the logistic support. As we know football has lot of fans and talent in this part of world is immense, it is imperative that all stake-holders come together to work for the betterment of the game and provide players with all the facilities and opportunities so that they are able to compete at the top level, Thakur told Kashmir Observer.
Thakur said Sports Council and the JKFA coming together will mean State Football Academy getting recognition with the All India Football Federation.
Sports Council is doing a tremendous job in promotion of sports in the state. And we want to be part of it. Hopefully with the JKFA becoming part of the academy, it will get recognition from the AIFF sooner than later. The academy is the best thing to have happened to football recently. I hope budding footballers will make most of it and get to learn from Wadoo and his team. Wadoo is a star footballer and his presence is only going to boost these players, he said.
Wadoo is going to be the head coach of the much talked about academy with many a licensed coaches set to assist him.
A week after it announced J&K first ever cricket academy, Sports Council decided to launch its maiden academy for football.
According to statement from the Sports Council, coaching camps under Wadoo will be for different age groups.
International footballer Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo will instruct/coach the aspiring sportspersons, players and will abreast the players with latest inns and outs of the game.As fitness has become a crucial part in any Footballers growth, we intend to keep the players abreast with the latest trends in managing ones body for optimum performance, the statement read.
The registration forms, according to the statement, will be available from May 9 at the office of State Football Academy at Synthetic Turf Srinagar.
