SRINAGAR: Law Enforcement wing of Agriculture Department Kashmir has seized misbranded pesticides worth Rs two crore in the past two months during its drive to keep a check on substandard and spurious products in the Valley markets.
This was stated at a meeting chaired by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, today to review functioning of the Department.
The meeting was told that the Enforcement wing has seized and stopped the sale of more than 33 quintals of spurious pesticides worth Rs 1 crore. It was said that major products which were seized include, Dithane M-45, Tata M -45, Indofil Z-78, Merimain, Captra from manufacturers like Sarasvati Agro chemical Ltd, Rallies India Ltd., Indofil Industries Ltd. and Adma India Pvt. Ltd.
On the occasion, the Director emphasized the officers to be proactive and initiate stern action against the violators who deal with with spurious pesticides.
He asked growers to avoid using pesticides which are found misbranded and are published in various newspapers by the Department for their benefit.
Spices manufacturer fined Rs 1 lakh
BARAMULLA: Legal Metrology Department, Baramulla today imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a leading spices manufacturing company for manufacture and sale of non-standard spices packages.
Earlier, a case was registered against the company for violating the labeling norms. Consequently, the case was compounded for a compounding fee of Rs. 1 lakh.
The Department has advised consumers of the district to bring their grievances into notice of the Department so that pertinent action can be taken for their redress.
