SRINAGAR: Calling the civil secretariat graveyard of funda¬mental rights and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir, incumbent Langate lawmaker and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Er Rasheed has said that party will hold a peaceful march towards civil secretariat followed by a sit-in on the eve of opening of civil secretariat and other offices in Srinagar on Monday May 8.
In a statement issued here, Ra¬sheed said, The protest march will be held to raise voice against the conspiracies aimed at diluting the Muslim character of the state, use of brutal force against people of the state seeking political reso¬lution to Kashmir dispute, slap¬ping PSA on political activists, brutalities against students and failure of the government to pro¬vide even nominal governance.
Appealing people to join the march, Rasheed said that this is the high time to wake up and stop New Delhi from dictating over every issue. Who doesnt know that the government in Jammu and Kashmir is not run from the civil secretariat by Me¬hbooba Mufti and her puppet Ministers but the junior rank of¬ficers of Home and Defence Min¬istries besides few intelligence officers sitting in Delhi, with a remote control in the hands of their bosses in south block.
Rasheed said: Being not com¬munal doesnt mean that one should keep mum over those well-crafted conspiracies against the majority community which have reduced the number of Mus¬lim officers in both civil and po¬lice administration to a nominal level. The civil secretariat has be¬come graveyard of fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir. It is irony that while common masses are begging for Sadak, Paani and Bijli, Crores are be¬ing spent on renovation of bun¬galows of bureaucrats and min¬isters and huge money is being wasted in the name of decorating and beautification of roads lead¬ing of the offices and residences of these white elephants.
Rasheed cautioned Kashmiris against the designs of New Delhi and added that protest march on the eve of opening of secretariat in Srinagar is to remind Meh¬booba Mufti of her duties towards the majority community besides sending New Delhi a tough mes¬sage that Muslim dominated character of Jammu and Kashmir will be protected at all costs.
