Srinagar:- Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest, Monday denounced the use of savage force against students, terming it as worst form of state terrorism.
Reacting to the widespread pro-freedom protests across various educational institutions across the valley by the students after the forces and police barged into degree college Pulwama on Saturday during which they beat harassed and gravely injured more than 50 students, Mirwaiz said that barbaric raj of Indian forces and police was prevalent in Kashmir to the extent that troopers and police did not even spare protesting students as they forcibly barged into their educational institutions and fired tear gas canisters, showered pellets, and ruthlessly tortured them which was amply displayed in every nook and corner of the valleys educational institutions, as if seeking revenge from the students.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday condemned the police assaults on Kashmiri students in various parts of Kashmir Valley today.
In a statement , the JKLF chairman said, Police, SOG and CRPF along with Indian army crossed every limit of brutality at Pulwama Degree College and dozens of girl and boy students were injured by police. Highhandedness of Police and army was evident through various videos on social media.
He said that today Kashmiri students across the valley with one voice staged peaceful protest against this brutality and at various places the oppressive attitude was repeated against unarmed peaceful students.
Malik said, Attacks on colleges and schools and brutalizing students is not acceptable to any civilized society and todays peaceful protest by students of Kashmir is a genuine, legal and democratic protest and stopping it by police might cannot be termed but as clear state terrorism.
JKLF chairman said that this brutal use of force on students of various universities, colleges and schools throughout Kashmir valley is a proof of the fact that Jammu Kashmir is a police state where nobody is allowed to raise his head or voice in protest and also it has become amply clear that it is not the youth who start violence but it is the police and forces that initiate and promote violence.
Malik said that choking every little space on peaceful protests and banning every peaceful activity is undemocratic in every way and today what has transpired at every college and school is a glaring example of police highhandedness and suppression.
He said that Indian rulers, the state government and bias media during mass uprising of 2016 childishly called the conduct of school examinations as a referendum against Azadi but today same rulers employed their brute police force to stop peaceful protest of students and used cane charge, teargas, pepper gas and other oppressive methods.
While hailing the students of Kashmir especially the girl students for their show of unity and solidarity with Pulwama students, JKLF chairman said that their peaceful protest and show of resilience is a heartening example of peaceful resistance against tyranny, oppression and illegal occupation.
While praying for the speedy recovery of the injured students, JKLF chairman also prayed for the recent martyrs.
UJC condemns assault on college students
United Jihad Council chief Syed Salahudin has condemned the assault on college students, saying that the forces are now targeting educational institutes.
In an e-mailed statement to KNS, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain while quoting the UJC chief said that the forces are now taking revenge from the people of Kashmir who have rejected Indian occupation and protesting against it.
Assaulting youth in public and then circulating their videos, forcible shouting of anti-Pakistan slogans, tying a youth to a jeep as human shield are all signs of defeat of Indian forces and their frustration, he said, while paying tributes to the students and the civilian who were killed by forces.
The UJC chief said that Pakistan should mount diplomatic pressure in the world against India and raise the human rights violation to mobilize the world opinion against India. (KNS
