5 Injured In Macchil Landslide

Srinagar: Five persons were injured in an landslide in Macchil sector in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara today.

Official sources told UNI that a landslide hit Chontiwari Payeen area in Macchil sector in north Kashmir, resulting in injuries to five persons.

The injured were rescued by locals and immediately taken to an Army hospital.

They said while four persons were discharged after treatment, one was referred to Srinagar in a critical condition.

However, they said after the chopper was not provided by the state administration or Army, the injured was being carried on foot to the nearest motorable road from where he will be taken to a hospital in Srinagar.

Dozens of village, including near the LoC in Macchil sector, remained cut off from district headquarters due to accumulation of several feet of snow.
