URI School Sans Specialized Staff, Students Suffer

Share

URI: A government Higher Secondary School in the frontier town of Uri in District Baramulla sans adequate teaching staff which has badly affected the education of students.

“Currently there are more than 300 students enrolled in the School and there are at least nine subjects which has no specialized teachers to teach the students,” sources informed.

Informed sources said that there are no lecturers for General English, Urdu, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Education and two commerce subjects.

The academic session started in first week of March across Kashmir. “The students come here and roam around in the campus most of the time during the day as the higher secondary sees no class work,” a shopkeeper whose shop is outside the higher secondary told a news website.

To meet the requirement of staff strength in higher secondary schools, the education department has a policy of recruiting contractual teachers for a period of one academic session. However, the recruitment often gets delayed by over a month which affects the academic work in schools.

A group of parents said that if the arrangement of teachers for the school is not carried out in a week’s time they will block Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road as a mark of protest.
