LMD books 10 traders in Sumbal; Realizes Rs 5200 fine

BANDIPORA: A checking squad of Legal Metrology Department led by Assistant Controller, Bandipora, conducted a surprise visit of various markets at Nowgam, Zalpora and Inderkoot, Sumbal, here Tuesday.

During the inspection, 10 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of legal metrology laws and a fine of Rs. 5200 was realized from the erring traders besides calibrating weights and measures.

Moreover, the shop owners were asked to ensure that all the packaged commodities offered for sale carry mandatory declarations such as Net Weight, date of packaging, manufacturing address, consumer grievance number/e mail etc. to avoid any punitive action under laws.
