Tariq was arrested in the month of August in Abi Guzar Srinagar and was booked under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA). He was shifted to Kathua district jail, subsequently.

Tariq was recently shifted to Kupwara district jail where he, according to his family, is suffering from many ailments.

“If not released immediately, his condition may deteriorate,” Tariq’s wife said.

She said that her husband had gone to see his son who was taking tuition in Srinagar but was arrested and immediately booked under PSA for participating in pro-freedom protests which were then going on in nook and corner of Kashmir.

Tariq’s wife appealed the judiciary to look into the case of her husband through humanitarian angle.
