SRINAGAR: Independent lawmaker representing Langate in J&K Legislature, Er Rasheed, on Tuesday condemned police for booking 27 persons of Nutnussa (Kupwara) at Baramulla.
J&K Police have booked at least twenty seven persons when they went to Baramulla to get the dead body of slain militant a few days ago.
In a statement issued today from Jammu, Rasheed asked police to introspect and find answer while cops were celebrating death of two militants, why thousands of people were mourning their death from Sopore to Kupwara.
It is shameful that while the village elders visited Baramulla at the direction of Sopore Police, they were booked under various sections by the Baramulla Police, Rasheed said. Police force should know that their atrocities and state terrorism contributes in taking people radical stands and chances of reconciliation over minor issues get vanished.
May police officials answer if they couldnt tolerate peaceful and respectable citizens to seek the dead body, what other than the Jungle Raj should be the name given to their highhandedness? the MLA asked. The slain militant belonged to their locality and they had every right to seek his body, her added.
Rasheed asked police cops to mend their behaviour and appealed chief minister Mehbooba Mufti not to ignore every incident. It is not only Indias political unrealistic stand but the brutalities of various security agencies, especially J&K police which compel youth to join militancy.
Rasheed further said, while these cops are receiving appreciations from New Delhi, but New Delhi seems not to be understanding that a section of J&K police is keen bent to ensure that youth should join militancy, as it fetches them perks, privileges and promotions.
Anti-militancy operations have become an industry for few police officers and they are directly responsible for creating a huge wedge between general public and the police force, he said.
The Langate lawmaker asked Government to release the 27 innocents without any excuses or be ready to face the public anger especially in Kupwara.

In the evening of February 4 (Saturday) a group of miscreants boarding three vehicles appeared in Baramulla market near Karripa Park and started pelting stones on vehicles and created law and order problem.
All these miscreants were detained and an FIR No 09/2017 was registered in Police Station Baramulla. These miscreants were remanded to police custody by court of law. Further investigation in this matter is going on.
Arrests Cause Uncertainty: Jamaat
SRINAGAR: The spree of arrests in Kashmir valley is becoming the main cause for creating a sense of uneasiness and uncertainty in the common masses, said Jamaat-e-Islami J&K on Tuesday.
… in particular the parents are very much concerned about the safety of their wards, Jamaat said in a statement.
Two days before when a group of youth from Nutnusa Tursoo of Handwara Tehsil came to police station Sheeri Baramulla for receiving dead body of Shaheed Azhar-ud-din Khan, the police arrested more than two dozen of them without any justification, Jamaat said while expressing its deep concern over these arrests and demanded early release of all of them and other political detainees.
Further, Jamaat while expressing its deep anguish over anti-Islam rhetoric and directions issued by the recently elected American President Donald Trump, appealed the Muslim Ummah while demonstrating full confidence in Allah and self-reliance, strengthen its association with Islam ideologically as well as in practice and keep themselves away from all un-Islamic ideologies and practices.
In addition to it, the Jamaat statement added, to defend Islam from the vicious and malicious propaganda, they should adopt all means of propagation and adopt the system of life presented by Islam practically to prove that Islamic teachings are based on justice and have the capacity to resolve all complex human issues easily and to establish a system of life based on humanitarian principles as in this system of life alone the humanity can develop and fully gloom. No power on the earth can put out the light of Islam and there is no need to get frightened by any defamatory propaganda.
