LPG Cylinders Used In Hospitals Putting Patients’ Lives In Danger

Anantnag:- Despite the official claims of spending huge amount of money to provide heating arrangement to the patients in government-run hospitals in Anantnag, the poor heating arrangement at sub Hospital Shangas is putting patients at risk.

According to some residents of Shangas area, patients admitted in the hospital shiver from biting cold and are forced to leave the hospital due the to non-availability of proper heating system in hospital.

“Hospital authorities are using domestic gas cylinders in the wards putting the lives of patients on risk ,” said Mohammad Ramzan, a Shangus resident. “Any untoward incident can be catastrophic. We’ve requested the hospital authorities to make proper heating arrangements in hospital to let not the patients suffer.”

Meanwhile, illegal refilling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is turning out to be a highly profitable business in the district and those involved in the malpractice mint double the profit. This is unlawful activity increases during winters in Kashmir mostly in towns and cities. Many gas agencies in Anantnag reportedly sell the fuel illegally to vendors, roadside motor mechanics, LPG-fitted vehicle owners, dhaba’s, Hotels, and restaurants. The district authorities in the town have not done anything to prevent the malpractice
