Srinagar: In the backdrop of the joint resistance leadership call, Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) Wednesday staged protest demanding resolution of the long pending Kashmir issue.
The association members along with the president, Mian Abdul Qayoom assembled in the High Court premises.
The protesters including noted lawyers and other legal luminaries stressed upon India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue according to the resolutions passed in UN, which has been accepted by the both neighboring countries.
According to KNS correspondent, Qayoom while addressing the protesters said that the lawyers are also among the people including transporters, traders and others who are fighting against the illegal occupation of India and are asking them to hold plebiscite here.
He said, With the Article 35 A in force in the state, the Indian constitution is not directly applicable in JK. In case, the union government wants to apply the constitution in Jammu and Kashmir, they have to discuss the matter with the state government first.
The Bar Association president said the Pandits whom the Kashmiris are welcoming and hugging here are making policies against Kashmiris. Despite Kashmiris welcome the Pandits to return to Kashmir, every Pandit in India are busy in lobbying hard for anti-Kashmiri policies, he said.
India which has forcibly occupied Kashmir must resolve the Kashmir issue with Pakistan through a peaceful dialogue process, he said, adding that Kashmir issue must be resolved according to the resolutions passed in UN.
He said that they organized the protest on the call given by the separatist leadership including Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik as part of their weekly protest calendar.
Bar association president said that the protest has been organized to convey a message to the world community to raise their voices against the sufferings of Kashmiris. (KNS)
