Sinha Led Team To Present Kashmir Report To GoI

New Delhi:  In an effort to highlight the current Kashmir situation, Yashwant Sinha led delegation has met President and Vice President of India Mr Pranab Mukerji and Hamid Ansari in New Delhi on Friday. Divulging information about these meetings, former bureaucrat and one of the members of the Kashmir centric delegation Wajahat Habibullah told Kashmir based news agency CNS that the delegation apprised both President and Vice President of India about the prevailing Kashmir situation.

 “There was a positive response from both the President and Vice President and they keenly heard the views and opinions put forth by the members of the delegation led by former Union Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha,” Wajahat Habibullah said adding that with regard to Kashmir he will again meet Vice President Hamid Ansari on January 5 next month.

 “Our report on Kashmir is almost complete. The report carries the wishes and aspirations of people of Kashmir and I can tell you that it is completely factual. We are going to present this report before the government of India within a couple of days,” he said.

He said that their delegation tried to reach every section of society in Kashmir. “We gave patient hearing to everyone and recorded each and every point raised by the people. In fact our work and efforts were appreciated by the people of Kashmir,” he said.

Responding to a question, Wajahat Habibullah said that it was the job of government of Jammu and Kashmir to see whether to issue ‘Domicile Certificates’  among the West Pakistan refugees at this critical stage was in the interest of peace or not. (CNS)
