Srinagar: Terming Government of Indias attempts of changing Jammu Kashmirs demography as unacceptable, Hurriyat Conference (M) Saturday said internationally-accepted Kashmir dispute had to be resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris and attempts of changing its disputed nature by any means would be opposed tooth and nail.
These views were expressed by Hurriyat leaders to various public delegations and gatherings during their visit to many places across Kashmir.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) said on the directions of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a high-level delegation of Hurriyat leaders led by senior Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited various areas of south Kashmir including Hogam and Dachnipora, another delegation led by senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Musadiq Adil and comprising Abdul Majeed Wani and Mir Ghulam Hassan besides others visited Safapora and Zaingeer areas of north Kashmir while another delegation led by Engineer Hilal Ahmad War visited many areas of central Kashmir including Srinagar and paid glowing tributes to the youth martyred in the firing by government forces during the ongoing resistance movement.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hurriyat (M) leaders stated the sacrifices of the martyrs during the ongoing resistance movement had once again brought international focus to Kashmir dispute and said Hurriyat (M) was duty bound to safeguard these sacrifices and promise-bound to work towards the resolution of the vexed issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris by peacefully carrying forward the ongoing peaceful resistance struggle.
Condemning the continued arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki, the Hurriyat (M) statement said continuing his detention despite his release orders by the court was unacceptable while the health of Zaki, who has been a cardiac patient for quite some time now, was deteriorating in detention.
Demanding the immediate release of Zaki and all political prisoners and youth who are being detained in various jails and police stations across the state, the conglomerate said there was no legal or moral justification for arresting these innocent people. (KNS)
