Militants Flee After Locals Attack Forces With ‘Kangri’s’

Bandipora: Two militants managed to break the security cordon and flee from Parrey Mohalla Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday after the residents attacked the forces with ‘Kangri’s’ (Firepots) Army personnel from 13 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG Bandipora and CRPF cordoned off Parrey Mohalla Hajin during the wee hours on Thursday after they received the information about the presence of two militants in the area.

Witnesses added that a large number of people blocked the roads and confronted the government forces who in retaliation fired tear-smoke shells to keep protesters at bay. “The agitated protesters attacked government forces with stones and Kangri’s while militants fired indiscriminately and fled from the spot.”

SP Bandipora Sheikh Zulifkar confirmed that militant fled from the spot. He said that in order to avoid collotral damage, Security Forces didn’t retaliate. (CNS)
