SRINAGAR: A young girl on Friday afternoon attempted suicide by jumping into river Jhelum in summer capital.
Sources said that a 19 year old girl (name withheld) jumped into Jhelum around 4 PM from Budshah bridge. She lives at Chinkral Mohalla.
An onlooker local youth instantly jumped into the river and rescued the girl.
Cops from police station Shaheed Gunj reached the spot and rushed the girl to Hospital. She is stable and responding to the medicines, a cop said.
Locals as well police have hailed the immediate response of the local youth for saving the life of the young girl.
