SRINAGAR: Terming the continued suspension of President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan as unjustified, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that he was punished for raising voice against spurious drug scam.
In a statement issued to KNS, Spokesperson DAK Dr Riyaz Ahmad Daga while demanding immediate revocation of his suspension said that DAK president was victimized for highlighting the illegal trade of spurious drugs in JK.
He exposed spurious drug scandal in which some powerful and mighty were involved and ironically the trade of spurious drugs is continuing unabated.
Lakhs of tablets of fake drug maximizin, a life saving antibiotic were supplied to government hospitals.
After expose of this fake drug and following public uproar hundreds of drugs which were consumed by patients were declared substandard.
We do not know how many precious human lives were lost to these drugs.
Recent report of Comptroller and Audit General (CAG) of India revealed that substandard drugs were supplied to government hospitals which validate our stand.
His endeavors in this regard should have been applauded but instead he was arrested and suspended and false cases were fabricated against him.
He was crucified for protesting against sufferings of patients and identifying frauds and corrupt practices in health department.
It is ironical that people involved in scams and frauds are roaming free and given plump postings and those raising public issues are being targeted.
Dr Nisar is being silenced and punished for exposing truth.
Speaking truth is not only a responsibility but an obligation of every human being.
It is the democratic and constitutional right of every citizen to express opinion against the crimes committed on the society.
His suspension has given untold sufferings to patients who are under his treatment and follow up.
His family is in pain and they have no reason to celebrate Eid.
We appeal Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to reinstate Dr Nisar on Eid so that he can resume his duties and deliver his services that are direly needed for his patients. (KNS)
