Bali visits Maternity Home

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Bali Bhagat, today paid a surprise visit to the Maternity Home and General OPD Sanat Nagar, Srinagar and took stock of its functioning.

The Minister inspected various wards including Labour Room, Operation Theatre and OPD, and enquired about the facilities available in the Maternity Home.

Taking serious note of non-performance of different sections of the hospital, the Minister seized the record of the Maternity Home and directed for appropriate action to be taken against non-performing Medicos and Para-Medicos.

The Minister also ordered immediate reshuffle of hospital staff to make the Maternity Home and General OPD fully functional. He also directed that all facilities at the hospital should be utilized at their optimum so that entire area gets benefit and load on LD Hospital is reduced.

The Minister said that the government is committed to provide all the basic health infrastructure facilities to people at district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centers. He said that any Health Institution found defunct or lacking facilities anywhere would be made fully functional in the shortest possible time across the state.

Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Mr. M K Bhandari and Director Health Services Kashmir, Mr. Saleem-ur-Rehman also accompanied the Minister during his visit.
