SRINAGAR: Over a dozen Amarnath Yatris took a Srinagar bound Go-Air flight with 180 passengers ‘hostage’ from New Delhi after they started a brawl with the crew.

A Go Air plane was reportedly to take off from New Delhi Airport at 5:45 AM on Friday, however, the flight got delayed by almost an hour after some 14 Yatris picked up fight with the flight crew.

“The aircraft was about to take off when all of a sudden some 14 yatris rose from their seats and began to chant Bum Bum Bole and asked the flight crew to stop the plane,” said a passenger. “On being asked as what had happened, the Yatris revealed that two of their group members hadn’t secured entry into the aircraft.”

Sources revealed two yatris had lost their boarding card and couldn’t board the plane. “It was not possible for the Airport staff and security officials to let them board the plane,” the sources added.

The Yatris in the aircraft picked up fight with the crew forcing the pilots to call the ground staff. The Ground Staff Manager came tried to pacify the Yatris that without a boarding card they wouldn’t be allowed in but to no avail.

Angered, the other passengers decided to de-board the aircraft. “The flight has been taken hostage by a few people,” the passengers said.

The Ground Staff called CSIF which took custody of all the fourteen Yatris, identified their baggage and evicted them from the aircraft.

It took almost an hour before the flight finally took off.
