Share

Srinagar:- The locals from Khrew and Khonmouh area’s Wednesday accused Cement unit holders of misleading Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with regard to their claim that they have been spending crores under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The locals from these areas staged a protest near Municipal Park Srinagar. They said that  few days back the Cement Unit Holders while interacting with Chief Minister mislead her that they are giving away almost Rs 4 crore every year under CSR to the local population some of which is even being used by the locals to pay the electricity bills of their residential houses.

“It is a white lie while the fact is that not a single penny has been spent by these Unit holders on the local population in the area. These Unit holders should be taken to task for misleading the head of the state,” said one of the protesters to CNS adding that not a single durable asset has been created by these Unit Holders.

“Instead of spending something under CSR, these Unit Holders give sleepless nights to the local population. Their factories are the continuous source of pollution,” they said.

Pertinently, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti recently called for creating an institutional mechanism to ensure productive use of the funds chipped in by cement manufacturers under Corporate Social Responsibility.
