BoPEE conducted Polytechnic examination: Govt

Srinagar: Minister for Social Welfare, Science and Technology, Sajjad Gani Lone today informed that the entrance examination for all Polytechnics is being conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BoPEE).

Replying to a question of Asgar Ali Karbalai, the Minister said that the matter is under examination of the department to introduce civil engineering stream in Government Polytechnic College, Kargil, saying that as soon as the matter is resolved, permanent faculty members will be provided to the College.

The Minister said that the funds to the tune of Rs. 64.02 lakh have been expended for creation of sports infrastructure and promotion of Sports Activities in Kargil under state and centre plan during last financial year.

The Minister said that an amount of Rs. 19.82 lakh has been allotted for organizing state level sports activities and creation of sports infrastructure in the district during current fiscal.

The Minister said that the construction of Ice Hockey Rink (IHR) at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.54 crore at Khurbathanning Kargil was sanctioned under Special Task Force. He said the funds sanctioned for the purpose stand released and utilized in full, but were deficient for completion of the project.

The Minister said that Detailed Project Report for construction of Ice Hockey Rink at Khurbathung Kargil at an estimated cost of Rs. 47.51 crore was prepared and forwarded to Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for sanction as a special dispensation for completion of the international standard Ice Hockey Rink at Khurbathanning. No funds are provided by the Centre till date for the said project, he added. (KNS)
