Srinagar: At a time when the government claims streamlining the education sector in the state, the Government High School Nagbal in Kandi district of Baramulla is painting a grim picture with school facing acute shortage of teachers thereby leaving students to suffer.
Talking to KNS, a teacher wishing anonymity said, At least seventy students are studying in the school but unfortunately the institution is facing shortage of teachers since the year 2014. Only eight teachers are available in the school to teach seventy students from class 1st to 10th, he said.
The teacher added they usually fail to complete the syllabus in the given time due to the shortage of teachers in the school. How can we manage to cover the syllabus when there is a serious dearth of teachers especially for Mathematics and Science subjects, said the teacher.
The school sans specialized teachers for Mathematics and Science due to which the students had to face tremendous hardships, he added.
Meanwhile, locals told KNS that the school was upgraded from middle school to high school in 2014, which was a good step but till date it faces shortage of teachers.
Besides teachers, the School also lacks basic facilities including Library, Laboratory, Playground, Toilet and drinking water facility. It is a sheer discrimination with us, said Zahid Ahmad a student.
He said that due to non availability of playground, students are being forced to play on roads and in open fields.
Talking to KNS Mohammad Ashraf, ZEPO Chandoosa, said: The school was upgraded under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) the staff from the scheme has not been sanctioned till now. (KNS)
