Srinagar: JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Saturday accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of supporting the police to harass Kashmiris.
Addressing a press conference outside his Maisuma residence before being rearrested, Malik said Mehbooba Mufti, who once used to visit martyrs homes is now supporting police actions to intimidate people in towns and villages.
She once called the task force as Daku force and now supporting their actions and support the RSS agenda in Kashmir, the JKLF Chief said.
He said police on Friday midnight abused, thrashed women, elders, children of the Maisuma.
He said police also lobbed teargas shells inside some of the homes.
It was a murderous attempt by police and the Maisuma was turned like the Maidan-e-Karbala, he said.
He said by such actions, police was pushing Kashmiri youth to pick-up the arms which the forces did in 1987 and was repeating the same.
However, Malik said such actions wont break the resolve of Kashmiris to take the freedom movement to the logical end.
He was released on bail Friday evening and was rearrested on Saturday when he was leading a protest rally towards Lal Chowk. Maliks arrest triggered clashes in Maisuma with party supporters demanding his immediate release.
Maisuma and its adjoining areas including Lal Chowk observed shutdown against the nocturnal raids by the police. Police had also imposed restrictions in Maisuma after people took to streets on Saturday morning against the police action.
His arrest came on the close heels of his pro-active efforts to strike unity in the pro-freedom camp. He along with supporters also confronted with police before he was arrested.
