Panchyat Elections to be held this year: Haq

Srinagar: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today informed the House that Panchayat elections will be held in the state this year.

Responding to a question of G N Monga, the Minister informed that  Panchayat elections shall be conducted by Chief Electoral Officer of the state for 2016 elections and an amendment in this effect in section 36, Act No. 2 of 1989 has also been made.

The Minister said that the government has already delegated powers with regard to funds and functions to the extent of 14 departments and subsequently the concerned Administrative departments issued individual government orders deciphering the devolution of 3Fs to the Panchayat Raj Institutions.

 Abdul Haq said that 352 IAY cases have been sanctioned in Boniyar and Uri Block in the year 2015-16, besides job cards are issued strictly as per the norms of MGNREGA scheme.   (PTK)
