URI: In a deadly road accident five persons, including father-son duo were killed during wee hours in Uri in North Kashmir.
The mishap occurred at Silkote in Uri. Station House Officer Uri said adding that five persons on board the vehicle died on the spot.
The dead including the driver were all killed when a Maruti-800 (JK05B-5422) fell into 200 feet deep gorge known as Haji Peer Nallah.
The deceased have been identified as Silikote Sarpanch Gh Hassan Chalkoo, 55; his son Imran Ahmad (21); Imtiyaz Chalkoo (30), Mushtaq Ahmad Awan (19) and Asif Ahmad (14).
Silikote village is the last village on this side of Kashmir in Uri. Locals said that the road condition of the area is worse.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed grief over these deaths. In her condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed her heart-felt sympathies to the bereaved family members in their hour of grief and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
2 killed in Batote cloudburst
DODA: Three school children are feared killed when a village in highway town of Batote was hit by a cloud burst Thursday evening.
According to the reports reaching here, the three students were going back to home from school and a sudden cloud burst in Kothri village washed them away.
Police, residents of the area and army rushed to the area. They recovered two bodies while search for the third one was on till late hours.
Those whose bodies were recovered were identified as Rakesh Kumar (13), son of Satish Kumar, r/o Ladhuwal Ramban and Shivali Devi (5), daughter of Hans Raj, r/o Bagoo Nallah Batote while as Payilo Devi (8), daughter of Raj Kumar, r/o Brathal Thopal Ramban was untraceable.
3 school kids drown, two fished out
Jammu: Three School Children today drowned in Chaknala Botote, Ramban. Reports said that two bodies were recovered while one is yet to be traced. Rescue operation is going on. (PTK)
